Isheja companion privacy policy

What the companion is

Isheja enables couples in a long-distance relationship to watch films and TV shows together in an immersive experience. The Isheja companion is a browser extension that lets you do that from the streaming platforms you already use: each of you watches on the service's own site, under your own account, and the companion keeps the two pages in the same moment from your Isheja room. Its single purpose is to mirror play, pause and where you are between the two of you.

What it reads

On a streaming service's page you open, the companion reads only what is playing: the page's address, the title, the film's length, whether it is playing, and where it is. It reads nothing else on the page, and never a frame of video or sound.

What it sends, and where

It sends those facts only to the Isheja page open in the same browser, which passes play, pause and where you are to your room so your partner's screen can match yours. The companion itself sends nothing to any server, holds no key to your room, and never touches the stream.

What it keeps in your browser

In this browser only, it remembers which services it has seen you watching, so your Isheja room can say Connected. Nothing else is kept, and removing the extension removes that.

What Isheja's server holds

Your room's current film, its address on the service, whether it is playing and where, and when that last changed, for the life of the room. Isheja keeps no history of past titles once a room stops carrying one, and never sells or shares any of it.

Your account

You sign in on the service's own site, in your own browser. The companion never sees or stores a password. Your account is your account, under your agreement with that service.

Limited use

The companion's use of the information it reads follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. It uses that information only for the single purpose above.

Outside the United States

If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Canada, you may ask to see or delete what a room holds about you. Write to rogernd25@gmail.com and it is done within a reasonable time.
